"All the cards were marked in advance.
The trial was a pig-circus, he never had a chance."
- Bob Dylan, Hurricane
If you encounter flagrant injustice and want to expose it, you would likely contact the local newspaper with the assumption that they would be interested in helping you publicize the injustice. If you contact reporter Michael Puente from the Post-Tribune to help you do this, you may get a response that is quite unexpected.

Remember, Michael Puente was the reporter who scurried to the defense of Bonaventura and penned a lopsided article that read more like damage control for Bonaventura than objective news reporting. Puente's article was clearly intended to show Bonaventura in a favorable light, and
PEERgroup as irresponsible mud-slingers. Fortunately, The Times followed with their own front page story that presented a balanced and objective version of our website

Anyway, awhile back one of our associates contacted Puente via email and forwarded documentation to him that exposed corruption in Bonaventura's court.  Puente claimed he did not received the information. When our associate questioned Puente about ”not receiving it” our associate received the following sarcastic, unprofessional and extremely abusive email from the
Post-Tribune's Michael Puente:

Nice, huh? Are you beginning to get a feel for level of professionalism at the Post-Tribune? Perhaps they would be more accommodating if they were to receive historical documentation that is pro-Bonaventura (unfortunately, none in likely to exist. Maybe that's why Puente is so testy.)

When
PEERgroup complained on our website about Puente's biased reporting in the Post-Tribune, we received the following email from him [PEERgroup Note: Red for emphasis]:

You can imagine what we thought after receiving this email.  We expected the Post-Tribune to help us expose a corrupt judge and instead we were threatened by one of their a reporters who claims to be linked to the very same corrupt power structure.  And who do you think the “judges” are that he’s referring to?

We sent off an email to the editors at the Post-Tribune asking them for clarification of Puente's threat. We have heard nothing. We gave them a full week to respond (which is 6 days more than they gave
PEERgroup to make a statement regarding our website).

Well, Michael, you keep on being a "good person" and in the meantime we'll keep an eye out for FBI thugs who you will be sending to break our collective legs.

We do not bow to delusional threats from unstable minds. You may want to pass that tidbit on to your pal, Mary Beth.

"To whom it may concern:

I have no idea why you want to attack me. I wrote the story, you disagreed
with it, get on with your life. You don't know me. You don't know of me. You
have nothing on me... If you think you can find something on me that is unprofessional, go right ahead and look. But you won't find anything and I have nothing to hide. I have a solid reputation in the community if not for being a good reporter, then
being at least a good person.

... If this keeps up,
I will have no choice but to find out who you are (which will not be hard to do at all since I know judges, prosecutors, defense attorneys, cops, FBI agents, detectives and reporters at other newspapers, including the Times, whom are my good friends who will help me) and handle this a very different way...So, unless you really want a battle over this, take my name off this web site as soon as you get this message. I will check back by Monday. If my name is not removed, well then it's on to chapter two."

Michael Puente
With all due respect, Xxxxxxx, you're a liar and you're full of shit. You
don't know a damn thing. You're all talk. You sound like some parnoid fool.  Look, don't waste any more of my time with your bullshit. If you have the guts, come down here and give me the package in person. But don't blame me because I didn't get a package you were supposed to send. How the hell is that my fault? I get mail all the time. So don't come up with this crap.

Have a nice day and I hope you keep reading my stories and continue to be a loyal subscriber to the Post-Tribune.
